Braskem and FKuR have created an agreement over the distribution method of bio-based EVA.

Developing off of a previous agreement between the two companies, Braskem have confirmed that FKuR will be the official distributor for the I’m green bio-based ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA). Their distribution duties will span across the EU, Switzerland, Norway, UK, Turkey, Israel and India.

Recently Braskem began developing the I’m green bio-based EVA through a process involving sustainably sourced sugarcane-based ethanol. This method of producing EVA is extremely beneficial to the environment, as sugarcane absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere when it is growing. This means that when the sugarcane is used as feedstock for plastic production, it reduces the amount of greenhouse emissions. The amount of biobased content within the new I’m green range is based on the ASTM D6866 standard and is between 45% and 80%, dependent on the grade.

The product which Braskem has manufactured for the I’m green bio-based EVA range, is a family of bio-based EVA plastics which neatly combine flexibility, lightness and resistance. So far, Braskem has been able to apply their environmentally friendly range to a selection of products, such as, footwear, toys, sporting goods, tatami mats and a general range of foams.

Now that Braskem have a green and environmentally friendly product to sell, they have signed an agreement with FKuR, who will be the official distributor of the product to multiple countries. The list includes the EU, Switzerland, Norway, UK, Turkey, Israel, and India. This is not the first time the companies have collaborated, as it was in 2011 that their partnership began. This addition of EVA will provide FKuR with a long list of products that it supplies to a range of countries for Braskem. The list of I’m green polymers which FKuR distributes worldwide include, PE, LDPE, LLDPE and HDPE.

Along with their partnership covering logistics, FKuR will also act as a contact for technology, development and application and marketing support. This highlights the strong relationship between the two companies, which now has the ability to continue growing and strengthening, whilst producing green and environmentally friendly products.

Member of the executive board at FKuR, Patrick Zimmermann, commented, “With our 360° service, we offer our customers everything from a single source, from the initial discussion to the marketing of the final plastic product.”
