Afag joins Emerson, providing Emerson the opportunity to expand and accelerate their factory automation capabilities

Emerson has recently gained Afag Holding AG who are an innovator in electric linear motion, feeding and handling automation solutions. This is an excellent development for Emerson as it will enable them to move forwards with their business and expand their market.

Afag’s primary focus is to serve customers within the battery manufacturing, automotive, packaging, medical, life sciences and electronics markets.

This addition to Emerson’s company will expand their market by over $9 billion and then it will be expected to continue growing with mid-single digits every year. This expansion and growth aligns with Emerson’s long-term, profitable organic growth aim. Afag joining Emerson will also benefit Emerson through bringing its technology and innovation to Emerson from their headquarters in Zell, Switzerland.

By combining Afag’s electric linear solutions and Emerson’s pneumatic motion technology, the result will be Emerson’s capabilities in factory automation receiving significant and necessary support, which will allow that sector of their business to grow and improve in quality. The other benefit from Afag’s technology will be the creation of a motion portfolio which will be created by the two companies coming together.

The CEO of Emerson, Ram Krishnan, says: “Afag brings exciting technology that will enable Emerson to accelerate growth in our existing $900 million factory automation business. As discrete and hybrid customers continue to accelerate electrification across their manufacturing processes, Afag’s technology is ideally suited to provide improved energy efficiency and performance gains.”
